Storm Acquires Eastern Operations of WiBand Communications
Ottawa, ON. December 03, 2001 - Storm Internet Services (Storm) - a wholly owned subsidiary of International Datacasting Corp (TSE:IDC) announced today that it has acquired the entire eastern operations of WiBand Communications-a national supplier of fixed wireless voice, video and data communications, based in Winnipeg. Storm has also entered into a Joint Reseller Agreement to partner with WiBand in Western Canada.
Barry Williams, President and CEO of Storm commented, "We at Storm are very excited about this latest acquisition. We have been looking for an opportunity to expand into the greater Toronto area and this acquisition gives us an entry into that extremely important marketplace. WiBand's solid wireless client base in Toronto coupled with our years of experience in managing large wireless networks will make a strong fit for future growth. We will be integrating all of the WiBand Ontario network and the current Ontario-based WiBand clients into our existing network. This is going to grow our regional coverage to almost 50 points of presence in Ontario alone."
Robert (Bob) Kennedy, CEO of WiBand Communications says, "The leverage created by joining WiBand's proven ability to acquire customers with the impressive footprint of the combined networks is very exciting. WiBand is also looking forward to partnering with Storm-this will extend our ability to offer services all the way from Victoria to Ottawa."
Barry Williams concluded, "Equally important to us is the new Joint Resellers Agreement with WiBand covering Western Canada. By partnering with WiBand we will be able to expand the service we offer our enterprise customers even further. With this alliance we meet our goal of taking Storm national."
