Jean-Marc Lalonde, M.P.P. is Pleased to Announce The Official Grand Opening of Canada's first "Wireless Smart Living Community"
Emburn, ON. May 11, 2002 - The official grand opening of Canada's first " Wireless Smart Living Community" was held at the Lapointe model home at 8 Dubois St, Embrun ON. Present for the grand opening with Mr. Lalonde were Gaston Patenaude, Mayor of The Township of Russell, Lucie Lapointe, President of Lapointe Developments, the builder and Earl Matthews, VP Marketing & Bus Dev, Storm Internet Services.
A "Wireless Smart Living Community" is an entire community that is built from the very start to be high-speed Internet ready. All the houses are pre-wired to accommodate up to four (4) computers, have a gateway/firewall/print server installed, as well as a wireless antenna. All the new owner has to do is contact Storm for the service and they are connected at 2 Mb/sec both ways to the Internet.
" It is wonderful that this Canadian milestone is happening in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell," stated Jean-Marc Lalonde. "Working with Mr. Patenaude to bring high-speed Internet into The Township of Russell was a real pleasure, he was firmly committed to the project from the very start, it was a great co-operative effort from everyone. Gaston Patenaude said "We are very fortunate to have good local builders in our Township. Lapointe Development is one of them and we are proud of that. Lapointes project will be the first one to be connected to this new wireless system and I wish them well. Bravo."
