Constance Bay Gets HighSpeed Internet From Storm Internet
Unique Partnership With Local Library Brings Broadband Services Constance Bay and Surrounding Areas
OTTAWA, Canada, May 6, 2005
- In a unique Partnership with the local City of Ottawa Library, Storm Internet Services, Inc. ("Storm") has brought HighSpeed Wireless Internet to the Constance Bay, Ontario, area. Local businesses and residents now have access to Storm's Highspeed Wireless Internet, and other services, as a result of a distribution node now located at the City of Ottawa Library in Constance Bay, ON.
"For over the past year or so we have had requests from Constance Bay residents clamouring for Highspeed connectivity. Our growth plans, however, were continually hampered due to the limited rural infrastructure available for providing broadband Internet," said Barry Williams, President of Storm Internet. "Fortunately, the local library in Constance Bay came up with a much appreciated contribution that directly benefits local residents and businesses."
The Storm Wireless Constance Bay is located on a tower next to the local library and offers direct non-line-of-site ("NLOS") HighSpeed Internet and line-of-site (LOS) to businesses and residents located in an 8km radius of the node. The 900 Mhz technology Storm uses to deliver HighSpeed Wireless Internet to a client's local area network or personal computer has been extensively tested and optimized by Storm. Operating in the license-exempt 900 Mhz spectrum, Storm's 900 Mhz design enables NLOS connections, which allows Storm to expand its network in areas where the terrain, trees or buildings prevent direct line-of-sight connections. This NLOS system includes a wireless modem (radio) and an indoor or outdoor antenna that can be installed quickly and easily installed by a professional installer.
